The NFL Super Bowl, also known as Super Bowl Sunday, is an event that is held once a year to determine which team will win the coveted title of Super Bowl Champions. It has become the most watched U.S. television broadcast, as well as the second largest day for U.S. food consumption, second only to Thanksgiving.
The first Super Bowl was held on January 15, 1967. At the time, the NFL wasn't the only league in town. There was a rival league known as the American Football League (AFL). The first Super Bowl was a competition between these two leagues to determine who had the best players. The two leagues merged in 1970, and the Super Bowl became the NFL Super Bowl Championship Game, played between the champions of the league's two conferences: the American Football Conference (AFC) and the National Football Conference (NFC).
The NFL Super Bowl has become known not only for great games but excellent entertainment. The NFL has produced some great half time shows with such memorable guests as The Rolling Stones, Janet Jackson, Aerosmith, and Justin Timberlake. There have also been some controversies over the half time show with the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction debacle.
If you are interested in attending a Super Bowl, you need to be ready to fork out some cash. The NFL offers a very limited amount of tickets for sale to the general public each year. You have to be chosen from a drawing to even purchase these tickets. Otherwise, you'll need to purchase the tickets, which seem to start at $4,000 for the worst seats and go north of $10,000 a ticket.
If you decide to purchase tickets, I'd recommend checking out the official NFL Super Bowl website. The NFL offers a venue for fans to exchange and sell tickets in a secure venue. The high value of these tickets make them rampant for fraud, so buying and selling them through the official venue of the NFL maybe the best option.
